WHO: Hiiro Amagi & You
WHAT: Exploring as a new arrival
WHEN: During the celebration period
WHERE: Alenroux
WARNINGS: Will update as necessary
[The celebration in the city was overwhelming, and he felt uneasy with both factions that were heavy-handed in their recruitment. Their leaders gave him an eerie vibe, and Hiiro hadn't been too certain about trusting either one. It was not that he wasn't tempted, especially when his interests leaned closer towards one over the other. However, he didn't want to make a mistake in his choice. Didn't want to be hasty, lest he regrets it.
After all, his choice is not for his own, but for his people.
It's been a few days, and although it had hurt to think of, he had carefully analyzed the information that was presented to him and pondered over it. To be told that the world he had known is completely gone was so much of a shock that he had blanked out on it at first, but when he had time to ponder it alone, he allowed the despair to sink in. It took him a few days, appetite lost and heart heavy, before the promises were whispered into his ears. No, it was always where, but it had only sunk then, that perhaps things were not as hopeless as they seemed.
So he had to become stronger, because lying in bed all day would only hinder him from completing his mission. Although he had no reason to believe that either faction was telling the truth, he had no other lead. However, the celebration is too loud, and he needed time to really decide on things. Since he did not have someone trusted to discuss it with, he decided to ponder on it on his own, far from the celebration.
That was how he ended up in Alenroux.]
I. ALENROUX (day)
[Not having a faction seems to help at least in keeping the people at ease. Hiiro finds himself wandering around the place, the greenery unfamiliar but much more soothing than anything else. He's wearing his hometown clothes, the same one he arrived in, but seems to have a better complexion now that his initial troubles at least had some sort of direction he can pursue solutions for.
At least, that was the goal. Instead, someone passing by the farms may notice the boy sleeping under a tree, seemingly without care, tired out from all the worries he's had. In fact, one might even think it's dangerous that he's so defenseless lying down there. Whether you approach him by choice, or if you did not notice him in the area and are about to trip over him though, the results are quite the same.
That is, anyone who approaches within grabbing distance might suddenly find their ankle yanked, with Hiiro jerking up from his restful sleep with stern eyes, as though he was ready to throw this person over his shoulder.
When he sees what he's done though, he lets go immediately, the intensity slacking into surprise.]
--- Mu? What are you doing?
II. ALENROUX (night)
[The night gives way to monsters, people having abandoned the outside now that it's dangerous. Someone a lot less foolish would heed the warnings and stay indoors, but Hiiro finds himself sneaking outside of the inn now that he's slept half the day away. It wasn't like he was going to easily shift from 12 hours to 24 hours so easily. He's unfortunately too awake to stay still, and there wasn't much he can learn in the inn while he waits.
So anyone out there at night, just as foolish as he is, might find him running away from a large monster, less out of fear and more like he was doing it intentionally. Training even, judging by the way he dodges its attacks and never attacks back. Or maybe, he's just an idiot with no weapon and really needs the help.
Or they can catch him when he's being more foolish, looking like a lost puppy following a dangerous shadow that whispers to him, walking towards the darkness. In any case, he might need some help snapping out of it.]

[The sarcasm just confuses him, and with the way he hunches, it's clear he's wary of her. Still, he looks particularly confused at the statement, blinking owlishly before he notices his surroundings.]
Where...? Who are you?
no subject
[ Immediate. Clipped. Growled out; The noise veils any worry she has. ]
Must be. They tell you not to go outside at night for a reason.
Keep walking your path and what waits at the end will kill you.
[ ...She does not answer the 'who are you'. Sorry Hiiro. ]
no subject
I thought I heard my brother and...
[He looks in the direction he was headed, his body still tense, his guard up, but he isn't attacking her at least. She sounded concerned.]
He's not here. Did you see anyone else? I have to find him.
[He's still trying to get over that, anxious to run in that direction, only holding himself back because she said to.]
no subject
[ She snaps it - annoyance slipping into frustration. It's difficult to conceal what she thinks: that maybe this stupid kid deserves to walk into his death if he's going to ask this many stupid questions. ]
[ (Sorry, Hiiro). Instead she stays, despite the obvious waves coming off of her. ]
There is no one out there.
It's a trick, to draw you out there so that what is out you will tear you shard from limb.
no subject
[Now that she mentioned it, they did say the monsters around here could be vicious. He had thought they were similar to the creatures that attacked him back in the city, but he didn't expect this.]
So they are able to trick us this way too? I didn't realize.
... Thank you. I must have lost my composure when I saw him. In hindsight, there was no way it could have been my brother.
no subject
[ Immediate, abrupt. But she doesn't necessarily disagree - just because she firmly believes in Meridian's cause doesn't mean she thinks there's a whole lot going on in the background. ]
No.
If he was here, surely you would have known by now.
no subject
[After all, Hiiro thinks Rinne had run away partially because of how much trouble Hiiro had given him as children. There were other factors, but he couldn't easily imagine Rinne showing himself to him.]
As for the other thing... There was a pool I saw that made me see my father, but I was pulled back before I could enter it. It seems that these "illusions" are common here.
no subject
What a pity.
[ She says it in that usual dry, uninterested kind of way. Sibling problems aren't really all that unusual... given her whole thing. ]
No, everything about this place likes messing with your mind. It's tiring.
And we're just expected to accept it.
[ Like??? All these Exalts all the time being horny? Get out of her head!! Horny and depressed. Like she can talk, really, given she just gives angry vibes all the time. ]
no subject
Umu... There is a constant buzz in my head sometimes that makes me wonder if I was thinking to myself, or if someone is talking to me. It is... confusing.
[So he just never uses the Communion, at least for now. Eventually, he'll try a bit more, but it really is hard when there are multiple thoughts in your head and they're not your own.]
In any case, thank you for bring me back to my senses. Did you come out here because of me? I apologize for causing trouble.
no subject
You cannot turn it off.
[ Which is tiring!!! Please spare her. Her only truly safe space had been in her own thoughts, and this place took this away. ]
[ A pause. ]
If it was trouble, I would have let you get eaten.
[ This is her way of saying "don't worry about it," isn't it? ]
no subject
[Should they be talking like this out here? He looks around, suddenly remembering where they are, why she was out here, and it makes him worry.]
Perhaps we should move to somewhere safer.

[ Nebula repeats the word with some incredulousness - Her, kind? What a laughable, objectionable thing. There is no one who would have ever called her that, certainly she does not feel it. Yet, it lights something in her that she doesn't have a name for and she feels hot - embarassed. ]
[ She looks away. ]
Nebula. [ Her name. Her responses become shorter yet as she inclines her head and does not mention what he said more than she has: ] Come on.
[ ... Nor does she wait to keep moving. Congratulations, Hiiro! You may have successfully made her short-circuit. ]
no subject
[He's never heard someone with that name before, but it impresses him nonetheless, even as he follows her without complaint. Why would he, when she was the one who was helping him? So he goes back to his original point.]
Since you still came out here to help me, despite not knowing who I am, it tells me that you are a very kind person. I feel relieved, to be honest. People are much kinder here than I anticipated.
[Speaking harshly, sure, but being nice and being kind weren't always the same thing. He should know.]
no subject
[ She ignores the first part to zone in on the rest, spitting the words out with no uncertain amount of contempt. She spins on him, forgoing going inside in the moment for what bursts forward, what needs to be said. ]
Do not look at these people and call them kind. [ Especially not her. ] There are those here that will use that weakness to tear you apart, regardless of side. They will see you as useless and weak and a quick wrung on a ladder to some stupid goal of theirs.
They will take advantage of it and they will destroy you.
[ ... Nebula that's a lot of words that basically devolve into you worrying he'll die for that, isn't it? ]
no subject
[She is very upset saying all that, but he still hears what she's saying. That she doesn't want him to be careless, that people will take advantage of that. It reminds him of the village.]
Did that happen to you?
no subject
[ She sure sounds upset for someone not upset! But quick to anger and yell really is just a default state, isn't it? And her eyes narrow at him; Not here, never here and yet. ]
I am not so foolish as to trust the first "nice" word anyone speaks to me, nor will I let them use me.
no subject
[Oh dear, that sounds ominous. Are there people who are like that here?]
I apologize. It has not been long since I left my village, so I am afraid I am not familiar with how people act outside of it. This place has been a strange experience for me.
