Considering Zhongli's own tumultuous arrival paired with the whirlwind of trying to come to terms with the loss of his own world and understand the workings of this one, reality was currently shaky ground indeed. His stubborn resistance to change was probably also not helping him much either.

As a real answer does not seem to be forthcoming anytime soon, I am more than willing to examine all the possible explanations. At face value, this island is already quite a mysterious place. In the hands of a capable poet or bard, I can only imagine the stories that could be told.

[ Zhongli's gaze follows Ernesto's out the library window to the icy landscape beyond. He could almost call such a landscape beautiful if he ignored the details. (Those details being the frozen residents of the island trapped in time.) ]

Yes. There once was a whole world. And now it is lost.

Perhaps that shared grief is what pulls at my heart for these people.
