[Uncommonly, when Matt says that he likes him, Liem finds he actually believes it. It probably helps that, as far as he’s been able to discern, this isn’t exactly unique behaviour for Matt; he seems very ready to like people in general. It’s just that in Liem’s experience, not everyone includes him in that category.
