He laughs.

It’s easy and genuine, and in other contexts (to other ears—), it might even be charming. His genuine laugh is a nice one. However, what he’s finding humor in is anything but. ]


Ah, so you kept it and did a little research? I had a bet with Mr. Silco on that… Whether you would keep it or tear it out. My bet was on the former, so I shall have to collect my little debt sometime.

[ It’s a response that will make her angry. He knows it, and that’s why he says it. However, if she’s able to cut through the anger, she might catch the implication before he’s blunt about it. [ He hadn’t seen a thing. He hadn’t even heard about it, since Silco had never deigned anything he saw worth mentioning to Sebastian. In fact, it was Sebastian’s impression that what he did see was unpleasant, so all the better for the demon twisting up his rotten little soul. The fact that it could be a spy was an interesting trick, to be sure, but that was never the point. It’s a demon’s perfect cruelty that that the only point was that she would be afraid of what it could see, not whether it did or not. ]
