So our mutual friend was in Arcadia, trying to broker an end to Fae aggression on Creation. [ Why were they attacking Marchford? Oh yeah. Because Akua had brokered them to. But we're not here to talk about all of that. ]
Faeries, of course, are...static in most things. They live the same roles, and the same stories, over and over, into perpetuity. They are the... primer on which all of Creation was made, but due to their static nature, they cannot but live out their eternal Roles.
[ In the same way that Akua says Names, she says Roles. They are the same cloth, but different weaves. ]
The Squire decided, that the best way to make the treaty happen was to... invade the Court of Winter. To enter the Skade one must be invited.
So what does she do? She made a clearly fake invitation, handed it to the Fae who guarded the entrance, and because it was so obviously fake, they couldn't figure out what it meant. Was it supposed to be a trick? Was it so fake because it was a test? Were they missing something?
[ Ludicrous! It shouldn't have worked, but the Fae had, according to the Archer, been so confused by the very scene before them, that they practically combusted on the spot in confusion, and once one of them played along, it was law. ]
She even signed it "King of Winter" because she didn't know his name!
[ That's the punchline. Jesus. Is it actually funny? Akua thinks so. ]
tee hee
This one is truly fantastic.
