[ The assortment feels nostalgic to him in a way that makes his smile tilt fonder, though it’s understated. This part does feel familiar, but it’s an old kind of familiar. Magic and religion were deeply intertwined for the people of the Aztec empire that were able to practice it, so it took forms more like this. It was all about sacred herbs, sacred rites and rituals where ingredients were prepared with discipline, and if Tezcatlipoca was feeling generous (or bored), he might bestow his power as the god who oversaw such things.

However, the nostalgic meditation does get interrupted by the question. His smile turns to a frown, and he turns back to Rin, but he doesn’t seem mad about the question. It really is more that the story is annoying to tell, in his opinion. ]

[ He sighs, then satisfied enough with his explorations now that this topic has come up, he’ll go to lean against a counter or something of the like that’s a little out of the way. ]

Some part of it is just fated. Machinations of the World itself that entangles Divine Spirits in a way that other creatures don’t have to worry about. Balance, that kinda shit. I’m night, she’s day, I’m black, she’s white, all those kinda analogies made manifest.

[ He rubs the back of his head as he pauses, since it’s clearly not just that. It’s more personal and kind of presumably has to be for the level of vitriol they have at each other. ]

It’s one of the pieces of the Aztecs that’s a little better known, so you can stop me if I’m explainin’ stuff you already know. But you know the basic idea about the Five Suns in our pantheon?
