They're right. Mr. Tibbs was a wizard's familiar. It's a long story, but... he ended up causing a lot of trouble for us about a year ago. Twice, actually. The second time, nearly all of Kenos was destroyed. When it was all over, he showed up like this... He's afflicted with something called Blight.

[ Over the course of this exposition, Gray causes some more involuntary otter-on-otter violence. When one of her otter shields goes limp -- one can only hope it's just unconscious -- she hurls it into an attacker that's trying to catch Nebula from behind. ]
