[ Shez spares a quick side glance to both D and the little girl, before nodding in acknowledgement. ]
Got it. We'll cover each other's back!
[ In a manner of speaking, anyway, though it does give him an idea of what to do. Following after D, Shez leaps ahead to meet the larger creature, and as his sword clashes with scythed claws, the contact gives him the perfect shot to move this fight over, a little trick he's learned and honed before his first Oracle trial: rather than simply sliding through shadows on his own, he takes his foe along for the ride, transporting them both across their impromptu battlefield in the blink of an eye, several feet behind D. There's always the chance more enemies will slither in from surrounding buildings, but with each of them standing at one end of the street, they should at least be able to prevent a full ambush.
Still, even as he charges at his assigned foe intent on a quick kill, Shez can't help but keep his his ears peeled for the ongoing battle behind his back-- in case he needs to step in, yes, but also for the sake of cautious curiosity. There's nothing obviously monstrous about D, so why does the enemy talk to him as though he were one of them...? ]
