[ At long last, Amos lets his arm slip from around D's shoulder. It falls back to his side before he places both hands in his coat pockets and looks ahead as they walk into a familiar neighbourhood (for him), silently considering.

Finally: ]
That's what matters.

[ His voice is quiet but firm in its agreement. He takes another second to study D's face, though he doubts he's going to find anything there. No aspect cheat code for him either, but even though Advocates do nothing for him discord-wise, he's found he tends to like them. Likes their values.

Once again he has decided there is kinship here, and after a pause debating whether to continue or not, Amos speaks up again. ]


I don't really remember my mom either. She died when I was young. Her best friend raised me, so I figure she was a kind woman, too. Otherwise she wouldn't have had a friend like her.

[ Simple, almost childish logic: his mom's friend was a nice woman, ergo his mom must have been one, too. It's delivered with a light sort of detachment, like when a person isn't emotionally connected to what they're saying — reading off a list of facts, them being from one's own life completely irrelevant. ]
