[Leave it to D to say something morose, yeah. Fortunately for Amos and conversation, Amos already has some insider information D cannot ignore. Amos is nice in offering him a chance to drop the discussion, though, and that actually means more to D than anything else.

Sadly, the conversation won't get much better in the feels department. D does not look at Amos, but also does not try twisting away to put space between them.]


The portrait you won was something which never existed.

The woman in the portrait was my mother. She was human, so her time was never guaranteed. The man was a vampire, the one who ruled vampire society at its prime. [He does not call this man his father. The distance feels very personal.] Vampires experience emotion just as humans do. They can love, but I can't say whether or not those two loved each other. Before I arrived here, that man had still been alive as far as I know.

I had been searching for him for a long time.
