[Somehow, it’s worse that D doesn’t even acknowledge Liem’s dry remark at all, and just moves on to his own question as though the answer will help him decide whether or not to take the sarcastic suggestion as actual advice. The possibility of being carried through the garden in his arms for the entire journey looms distressingly large in Liem’s mind.

But when he does consider the matter of D’s missing hat, he realizes that his spell must have expired at some point during the interlude with the worm, and thanks to being scooped up and dashed around in various directions, he’s no longer wholly sure what direction they need to be going in. He takes a moment to glance up, orienting himself by the stars far, far overhead, through the glass of the greenhouse roof.

Hm. No, but…

[He points in roughly the direction that he’d sensed the hat in before, as best as he can recall. It’s close to the same way they’d been heading before, at least, so it won’t hurt them to continue that way for a little longer before he casts the spell again.]

It should still be this way. I can check again when we’ve gone a little further.
