What makes you think I would want a basket?

[ There is an arch to Set's tone, just as there is an arch to Set's brow. As with most children, he cares little for them — there is only one child that he truly has the heart to dote upon, and that is his own. D resembles Anubis, though. It's just enough to keep Set from barking harshly and demanding deep conversations of philosophy and ethics out of him, the way he had with Lucien. It's what keeps his hand gentle, as he smooths it over the top of D's head and gently fluffs out the ends of his hair.

What makes his expression flutter a little, when he thinks of cutting D apart. Anubis existed-exists in flux, a series of organs and pieces of his soul hacked into portions and bound into a set of ceramic jars. The mere memory-fact of it ( for those jars, which had ceased to exist in his past, now exist in his presence ) urges him to fold his arm around D and draw the boy into the curl of his knees and arms, to slip his hands into the boy's and hold them still. ]

— he is wrong, to treat you that way. You should be allowed to weave baskets, all day, all the time, if that is what you want. Your strength should not be measured through how much pain you can bear.
