[She hadn’t expected any other answer. The lines in the sand were drawn clearly between the two of them, and always (almost always) had been. When there was no Oracle, they ate street meat together and he said they did what friends do, she bought the birthday cake he recommended and she had held his hand and thought that it was warm and strong and shamefully comforting to know someone who had experienced the same things she did about… about how the world worked.
