[here are the facts: jyn couldn't give a single bantha's shit about the golden object she'd swiped from the ground and walked away with; yes, it's one of the items that the effigy is seeking (she'd gotten the same message as everyone else, though she'd put a significant effort into paying as little attention as possible), and no, she really doesn't care. she doesn't care who wins or loses this stupid oracle, she doesn't care about oracles in general, and she doesn't really care about anything except getting out of this stupid place.
and here are also the facts: jyn starts to care about this stupid object, quite a fucking lot, the second it's swiped from her hands by a fucking squirrel.
she starts to care about it so much, in fact, that after a blink to register what's happened, then another to decide how she feels about it (mad; she's mad), she takes off running at top speed. unfortunately for someone who's tiny, a squirrel is now much faster, so it's gone, out of her line of sight, before she can get far.
that doesn't stop her, though, nor does it stop her from yelling out her frustrations, very unintelligibly, as she goes.
for those who happen to be nearby, close to the meridian camp, it definitely makes a scene.
