[Blood fills her mouth, and for a moment Hayame fears that something has ruptured inside of her, something mortal and dreadfully slow… but it is just her tongue, bitten in the hard, unchecked fall. Her face had skid through the dirt and it streaks undignified and messy across her skin, displacing the large leather eyepatch down her cheek just enough that it provides a hint of what lay beneath. No scars, no burns… a perfect pair of eyelids and thick lashes that twitch and flutter like the other of the pair… but there is only emptiness behind them, the eyeball plucked clean out by a demon intent on taking and leaving her marked for weak.
