The God that I believe in is considered - among other things - to be a comfort in times of grief. To know that someone is there for you, even if you aren't always aware of them, even if it's a matter of faith to determine if they're even there... It can be of great assistance, just feeling that you're not alone. Maybe it sounds weird if you didn't grow up in faith, but it's always been one of the few things that makes absolute sense to me.
