[ For the longest time, Kaeya has no idea what to say. Amos goes on and on about how things look from his perspective but Kaeya doesn't know how to make any sense of it. Maybe because this isn't how he pictured things would go. It would have been so much easier if the other man just walked away and never spoke to him again, but— ]

I... see.

[ The gears in his head are slowly turning. The more he thinks about it, the more he realizes that Amos... simply cares about him? Isn't that what he's always wanted? But it can't be that simple. There's always a catch. There has to be. Later down the line, Amos is going to realize he isn't worth it, and then he'll be back to square one.

But what if there's no catch?

The small part of him that wants to believe that's the case is slowly winning, and he finds himself laughing softly. Sheepishly. But when he speaks, he still sounds uncertain. ]


Is this because you still think of me as a friend—? Despite what happened.

[ Just give him a moment, okay. The most important person in his life walked away from him when he tried to fix things so getting what he wants is entirely new territory to him. ]
