[Any misstep that Gray might have taken in speaking about this topic is apparently being overlooked; she seems neither offended nor shamed. In fact, despite any weirdness in her agreement to do whatever was asked of her without all the details and her general affect, the air Caren is currently giving off is patient and expectant. If anyone's weird, maybe it should be Gray for having such a problem with her?

Caren kneels beside the other young woman as she begins digging, pushing her sleeves back to her elbows. She rarely uncovers her arms, but staying conservative under these circumstances would just necessitate more cleanup. Her condition has had no reason to activate in this place; her limbs are nearly unblemished by wounds or bandages. Only a few remain, the holdovers from the worst and most recent.

It's as you say. I'm still an outsider here. [There are layers to what she says: Not only is she newly arrived, but she's an outsider to the factions themselves, having not placed her faith in either leader yet. And she's an outsider to this city the way she looks now, pale and ghostly in the midst of vibrant revelry.] You might say I'm a stranger to the people as well as the customs.
