[ The question, as posed, was admittedly a bit presumptuous... but Link had asked it in earnest, and he listens to Zhongli's answer in earnest too. Some might say that the difference in perspective between Zenites and Meris comes down to semantics, but it feels much more substantial than that to Link. In Zhongli's case, his mind catches on one part in particular, but he'll have to bring that up in a moment, as he considers how to answer Zhongli's question. ]

Ah... yes. Whether it's true that our worlds have really been destroyed... it doesn't really matter, does it? If they can be restored, then they aren't gone. They're just out there, waiting to be fixed. Or at least, that's what I think.

[ He looks down at the ground thoughtfully. Link's interpretation of the conflict in Kenos is heavily informed by the conflict that had been ongoing in his own world. How much should he tell Zhongli about himself? He isn't against talking with Zenites about such things. But, as they trudge towards the Tree, he wonders what good it will do. They're about to be in direct opposition to each other.

After a pause, he speaks again.

My world... Before I came here, it suffered a terrible disaster one hundred years ago. And I was working towards making things right again. The old world, before the Calamity, wasn't ever gonna come back, no matter what I did. But... that doesn't mean that what was leftover isn't worth saving.
