[ It's brief, like a sudden gust of wind, but somehow Link feels like he can see — no, "see" is not the right word, it's an impression, an intuition, a faint outline of a memory, of a girl, standing by the Effigy's side as if it were Link's own side, pulling on his coattails. This image does not come with a sense of love, not exactly, even though Link can somehow tell that this girl was like a daughter to him, but... she still casts a shadow on his psyche nonetheless, maybe in a very different way than the average person, but still significant. Is this the same girl that he spoke of before? Did he... kill her?
The thought is chilling. Link stops, unable to focus on the question posed, as he ponders this, and what such a thing would look like for him. What if it were Sidon that he had to kill to bring Hyrule back...? What if it were Zelda? Could he do it? No. Probably not. Then again, if they were here, they would surely be on the side of the Meris. Of that, he has no doubt, and the thought calms his doubts. They would work together to bring their world back, and thus, there would be no occasion for Link to have to trade their lives for it.
His shoulders relaxed, having tensed up without him even realizing. This final question is easy to answer, at least. Maybe too easy. ]
Well, it's... hope, isn't it? [ He pauses to choose his words. ] Not just hope, but... faith. And love for your home... for the people in it... wanting it back, even if it wasn't perfect. Wanting what you already had, not wanting something new to replace it...
[ His voice trails off, giving his response no clear ending, but he feels as if he could go on. Unlike all the other times when he was at a loss for words. ]
