we love him for it

Voryn then.

[ Zhongli replies as he takes Voryn's hands in his, thumbs pressing slow circles against the back of them.

Honestly, it does sound mad. But then again, Blight was most likely brought about by misuse of time magic. Zhongli himself had often wondered if Lady Yima possessed a talent for the craft herself, being the sole person able to pull wayward souls from the grip of the Great Tree. Add in Aetos's own ability to pull in random monsters from supposed dead realms and the trinkets from home that found their way to the marketplace---

The manipulation of time seemed to be at the root of everything.

So why couldn't this vision be the reality?

Upon our first meeting, I asked you if you believed in the certainty of fate to which you answered "everything can be seen from a different perspective." So allow me to try to embrace it if this is your perspective.

You believe this place scorched from the sun and bereft of life could be the end result between this game of Sun and Moon. Or perhaps--- this is the respite before the next round begins.

[ Perhaps he is layering his own biased worldview on top of Voryn's but at least to Zhongli, together they form a clearer picture. ]

That is an unsettling thought, but not a hopeless one. Not if there might be ways to walk a different path.
