Despite that he is plagued by the tug-of-war between Meridian and Zenith energies, Bondrewd lacks the ability to despair — if anything, he finds it all engrossing. Every moment, he learns something new about those around him. Every moment, he becomes a little more enamored with the structure of the world of Kenos. However, others ail. They struggle and hurt, and the Green Witch he had met so long ago now is wan, exhausted before him. She "wakes" from a difficult vision, it seems. One that he sees in the way her brow knits, the way her mind and voice call for loved ones.

Behind him, the hazy, bright shape of a small girl lingers; her face obscured, her hands fastened tenderly to the end of his coat. To the sway of his tail, which moves solely because it is hardwired to his spine. If he has a spine. He has to have a spine. Maybe? ]
