He is not prepared to guess at the cause, though he does his best not to be distracted by the warmth of another body bumping up against his arm.

The idea that the Tree's affliction has been the result of intentional interference still makes him doubt and worry in equal measure. If one were equipped with the means and the motive to do such a thing, what would it mean for the rest of Kenos? He hesitates to consider.]
