Hm… It is not that, precisely. I believe that the people of Zenith are largely driven more by a sense of practicality than idealism. There is a certain amount of that mindset that I imagine is necessary, for it is not a small thing to abandon hope and look forward to some new unknown.
[ Partway through the explanation, the oddity of even giving the explanation strikes him, and he hums a thoughtful note at the realization. It’s surely curious for a demon to be the one explaining such a thing, isn’t it? With their first conversation and the glimpses that Sebastian had caught of Bondrewd’s soul, he had assumed that he was human, if an incredibly strange one… But he wonders if perhaps he was mistaken. A question for later, he decides. ]
…But I would call it inexperience, perhaps? Or naivete? They know not war nor the sacrifices necessary to create innovations that they likely take for granted and do not consider. I would of course say the same for Meridian’s number, but I imagine the attitude is more present.
[ As Sebastian explains, he gestures as he holds his palms out flat, but immediately, dark, abyssal shadows bring forth seemingly from nowhere. However, if Bondrewd’s eyes are especially sharp, he’ll be able to pick up the pattern. It’s not from the dark of Sebastian’s claws, but rather, the little wrinkles of shadow cast in folds of clothing or how it sits against him that the shadow spring forth.
