[There’s starting to be an uptick in weird rumors going around, particularly over in Springstar.
Maybe not so odd on its surface—there’s been a lot of that going on with slow, creeping threat of the Blight lurking on the fringes. Up until now, most of those stories getting passed along have been mostly the same. A patch of plants dying here, some animals behaving oddly before keeling over there. Just the natural cycle of decay, but accelerated.
But now people are telling tales of explosive growth of plant life and energetic and erratic behaviors in people and objects both out in the Meridian’s home turf.
New symptoms? That’s bad. And as invested as Gavial’s been in puzzling out what makes this temporal disease tick (and with a more official assignment to help the academy look into it), she wastes no time in scouring the sunny city for any sightings of this new surge of growth. She finds it easy enough to rope another interested party into the job with her—always best to have a helping hand with these things—and get right down to seeking out the latest of these rumors. Word is, there’s been some unusual activity over in Springstar’s residential district.
By the time Gavial and Bondrewd find their way there, they find many of the locals in a state of near panic, and it’s no wonder why; the side garden on one small apartment building has already nearly tripled in size, overtaking about half of the building in its snarl and beginning to encroach upon the nearby walkways and street.
There’s the low hum of worried locals’ murmurs as the two Shard-bearers begin their approach toward the building. Gavial comes to a halt about ten feet back from the mass of writhing plants, looking the mess of it up and down as she drops the bag full of their equipment to the ground between them.
