[ It's... odd. The way Lottie was looking at him like she was about to cry -- something that very readily made Silco on high alert -- and the way she spoke to him, like there was something important there that she was trying to express. Silco...thought Lottie had potential, she clearly signed on with the Kenoma -- a harsh choice -- and had tried to make it work, despite... her clearly being outclassed by some of the greater beings they found themselves mired in.
Silco, too, had been stuck outclassed by them. He understood that, and understood her hesitation with the great and dire circumstances they'd been found in. He felt a certain kinship with her over that, because he understood what it was, to wallow in that feeling of being...lost. He, too, had been dealt a shit hand, and he knew what it was like to try and play that as tactically as possible to make it work.
So while Lottie was hesitant, Silco was confident. He blew his smoke out and up, and stamped it out in the ashtray -- half smoked, but that was fine. He often wasted the ends of his cigars, if not all. ]
Why would I be? [ He asked, one eyebrow drew downward, in consternation. ] In fact, arriving here has been... the best thing that's happened in six months, thus far.
[ He didn't mention that it's because of other circumstances, like his daughter being here. ]
