[ She gives a tiny nod of her head, still listening but deciding to stare down at the water. It's lovely and warm, and if she squints she can see the steam waft off from it. Reminds her of when she'd visit her family on the rare trip back home, her mother habitually forcing Lottie and her sister's to 'bond' by forcing them to spend time together at the baths. This time, there's less bickering. Even the people she doesn't know are having a great time, relaxing into the waters, having nice, normal conversations.

Her eyes bounce back up just in time to catch his eyes when he turns the question onto her. A shy sort of smile graces her lips β€” this is so spectacularly simple that it makes her feel weirdly giddy. It's normal. No drama, no blood, or weird tree wizards. She's a little buzzed and talking with Amos, and they're just being regular people. No one even recognizes them!

(God, when did she become such a sap for the #basic things in life? Like reassurances that caring about how people are isn't weird or embarrassing?) ]


No, yeah. Better than the last time we did this! [ A pause, as she clarifies: ] Not the bath, I mean β€” not that we had one over there but..

[ She doesn't think she could remember if they did, even if she tried. Which is a good thing, right? The more she pushes all that nasty stuff out of her brain, the easier it'll be to.. Lottie doesn't know, function? Make new memories? She leaves the thought in the air, humming in between the silence. She breathes out softly, ]

I'm good. I like this place more.. I can see myself buying a condo here, or something.
