[...Maybe they should have sacrificed a limb each instead. At least that pain would be their own. Sooyoung can shed memories as easy as anything, but sharing them? And it's not like watching them on a screen, distant and unattached. This feels intimate. She can feel the pulse of Joonghyuk's emotions through the Communion, and if she'd doubted that such an ordinary memory could be precious to him... She's not doubting it now. She tries to keep her own feelings locked up tight in response, her expression neutral. Still, something close to sadness leaks out -- then a rush of anger.

Why is it that Yoo Joonghyuk and Kim Dokja have to sacrifice memories too? Isn't that her job? ...What's the point if she can't even save them from doing that?

It takes a moment for Sooyoung to focus back on the Communion, and then another moment for her to go next.

Sooyoung is hunched over a conference table. Papers upon papers are scattered before her, Yoo Sangah seated to her left and Uriel to her right, with the kids across from her. They're all talking, Lee Hyunseung interrupts the clamor with a tentatively raised hand -- he has a question about one of the Scenarios. Now that they won't have Kim Dokja with them, wouldn't it be better if they chose this way instead? Everyone starts chiming in, and Sooyoung groans -- but the groan is performative, and there's a thrum of excitement in her chest whenever she looks at the blackboard taking up an entire wall of the room.

The blackboard of all their carefully planned progress, most of it dominated by papers and incomprehensible scribble, which Yoo Joonghyuk is in the middle of erasing so that he can rewrite it in his own perfect script. Annoying. Surprisingly, he's left her untidy scrawl on the top: 'REGRESSION 2.0 // goal!!!! bring kim dokja back and kick his ass so hard he wont be able to stand for a month loool' Or maybe not that surprising, since looking at it every time gives Sooyoung a burst of endorphins, and she's pretty sure it does the same for everyone else.

This is going to work. How can it not? Every piece is coming together, from everyone this time. Sun Wukong is napping, a book placed on his face, Anna Croft and Lee Sookyung converse quietly next to him, and even other Incarnations who Sooyoung barely remember are here too.

Last time, they all relied on Kim Dokja. He saved all of them. Now they'll once again walk on the path he paved for them, and return the favor.]
