[ Sebastian’s expression softens from its enthusiasm, but it’s hardly from diminished interest. It’s simply taking a moment to try and imagine what Amos describes and what it would be like. His mental picture is still rather far from the reality of it, but even curious as he naturally is to learn about human innovation, most of the innovations that would take humanity to space were still a few decades away.

Even if his imagining of it isn’t very accurate, he at least has one point of comparison that doesn’t feel like it’s too far off. ]

With how you talk of it, it reminds me a bit of the sea. The oceans are far smaller, of course, but when you are truly in the middle of an ocean, I imagine it must feel similar. I have only been on that kind of ship once, but there was something remarkable about the emptiness of looking out over the water. On a moonless night, I imagine the sky would nearly blend in with the water itself.

[ Sebastian gives an appreciative nod to the bartender as well as the second shot is brought. He takes his, but politely waits for Amos to drink first. Beyond the comparison to something he does know, Sebastian can at least understand the human part of it. Even if they make it to the stars, that part doesn’t change all that much, he imagines. ]

Do you miss the simplicity of that? I imagine that by comparison, Horos was absolutely a “whole thing”, as it were.

[ With a nod to Amos this time, he takes his drink again, nodding appreciatively once more that it doesn’t hit his tongue so sourly as some others. And luckily for Amos’s liver, Sebastian won’t get more… He’ll just drink whatever is put in front of him, which is why no one should try and keep pace ]
